在寒假里我去图书馆借了一本叫《外国民间故事精选》的书，有些人听了肯定会说这么大了还看民间故事，但这本书确实让我懂得了很多道理。
这本书有好多个故事，但令我印象深刻的是一个名叫《捧空花盆的孩子》故事。它讲述了一个国王非常想要一个孩子，于是他召集城里所有的孩子，每个人发一颗种子，并说：“如果有人能种出漂亮的花，我就让他做我的继承人。”他们每天都精心护理，有个叫雄日的孩子，他的花怎么也发不了芽，于是去问了妈妈，妈妈说：“你把土换一下，看行不行。”雄日按照妈妈说的去做可还是不行，第二天，无数个孩子捧着开满漂亮的花。国王经过一个个孩子，来到了雄日面前说：“这就是我的继承人。”大臣问国王：“为什么要选一个捧空花盆的孩子？”国王说：“因为我发给他们的种子都是煮熟的”。孩子们低下了头，因为他们种下的是别的种子。
我从中读出了，我们应该诚实，不能对任何人撒谎，这样损人不利己啊！
